Update: 28/12/2024

RateBeer data, organized into separate files as follows:

  • Brewers – 49 958 records
  • Beers (+split into two files divided alphabetically by brewery names) – 618 920 + 613 057 = 1 231 977
  • Cities – 19 862
  • Places – 89 246
  • Place Reviews – 385 326

There’s no guarantee that the data is complete or error-free, but I’ve done my best to ensure accuracy, even adding some information that RB didn’t display openly.

Additional notes about the specifics of the data:

  • I’m aware that csv isn’t the optimal format for storing this type of data, but it’s likely the most accessible for the majority of users and possible to import (possibly: painful process) into nearly anything.
  • I haven’t made any detailed modifications to the content of the data (exceptions include removing private data columns and occasionally adding columns for keys, links, etc.).
  • The brewery list was supplemented with breweries with “/nazwa/” in the URL, which weren’t included in the country-based brewery lists (these might be deleted breweries? IDK).
  • A similar approach was applied to Place Reviews.
  • In the Places file, there are two sometimes inconsistent columns: “Rate Count” and “Rate Count Real.” The former is as presented by RB, while the latter is based on the actual number of available reviews.

The data was collected between 20-26 December, 2024.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I’ll gladly help with any related topics where I can. I’m also planning to create some charts, maps, or tables on a website based on this data in the coming days.

Lastly, a quick reminder that, for the next few days, it’s possible to download your own reviews from RateBeer (I didn’t bulk download reviews since there are millions of them, and their practical usefulness is quite limited).

As for beer reviews – while bulk export is possible, everyone needs to grab their own. I skipped this part due to the sheer amount of data and questions about how up-to-date it would be.

Cheers,
Rami
